The dialogue platform “University is people”

The dialogue platform “University is People” was held by the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance at Lviv Polytechnic National University. The dialogue platform became an important platform for discussing strategic issues of the development of Ukrainian higher education. The panel discussion “People at the Centre of University Strategy: Selection, Assessment, and Recognition Policies” featured the Chairman of the Academic Council of Carpathian University, Professor Ihor Tsependa, together with leading experts and leaders of Ukrainian higher education, where they discussed the challenges and prospects for the development of university communities in the context of war, demographic changes, and growing international competition.

The following participated in the discussion:

– Andriy Butenko – Head of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education;

– Svitlana Kalashnikova – Advisor to the Directorate of the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, National Coordinator of the British Council project in Ukraine “Program for the Development of Leadership Potential of Ukrainian Universities”;

– Serhiy Kvit – President of the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy”;

The conversation was moderated by Natalia Stukalo, Deputy Head of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education.

The discussion focused on issues that will determine universities’ development in the coming years: attracting talented teachers and researchers, evaluating their work, and fostering an environment of trust, development, and academic freedom.

“I am convinced that in conditions of war, demographic challenges, and global competition, universities should compete not only with educational programs or infrastructure. First of all, they should be able to attract, support, and inspire people. I believe that the experience of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University in forming an academic community, developing international scientific projects, supporting young scientists, and implementing a human-centered approach in university management is important for other HEIs,” said Ihor Tsependa.
