A delegation from the British Council and the British Embassy visited Carpathian University

A meeting of students, teachers, and representatives of the academic community with a delegation of the British Council and the British Embassy in Ukraine took place at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.

The university was visited by the Director of the British Council in Ukraine, Tom Mishosha; the Head of the Lviv Office of the British Embassy, Svitlana Yavorska; and the Manager of the Chevening Scholarship Program of the British Embassy, Anastasia Horashchenko.

The attendees were welcomed by the university rector, Valentyna Yakubiv, who thanked the representatives of the British Council and the British Embassy for their friendly cooperation, support for Ukrainian education, and for developing international educational opportunities for students and scholars. She emphasised the importance of international partnership, academic mobility, and the openness of Ukrainian universities to the global educational space.

During the meeting, Tom Mishosha spoke about the British Council’s activities in Ukraine, its key areas of work, and the opportunities it provides for the development of education, science, and international cooperation.

Anastasia Horashchenko gave a separate presentation on the Chevening scholarship program. She presented opportunities to study in the UK through the “Study in the UK with a Fully Funded Chevening Scholarship” program. The event participants learned about the specifics of admission to British universities, the benefits of international education, and opportunities for professional and academic development for Ukrainian students.

Special attention was paid to the Chevening scholarship program, a UK government initiative that operates in over 160 countries and territories worldwide. The UK government and partner organisations fund the program. It provides talented students and young professionals with the opportunity to study, mainly in one-year master’s programs, at leading UK universities.

During the presentation, participants were given detailed information on the program’s participation conditions, the application process, the selection criteria for candidates, and the benefits fellows receive. In particular, the program covers the costs of tuition, accommodation, transportation and other necessary expenses related to their stay in the UK.

Representatives of the delegation also shared practical advice on preparing motivation letters, passing interviews, and submitting a successful application to participate in the Chevening program.

The meeting generated considerable interest among students and university teachers, as it opened new opportunities in international education, academic mobility, and professional development.

Carpathian University actively supports international cooperation and creates opportunities for students and faculty to participate in international educational and scientific programs.
