The International Educational and Artistic Forum “Vyshyvanka: Education, Art, Traditions, Identity”, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of World Embroidery Day, was held at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.
The forum has become an international platform for scientific, cultural, and artistic dialogue, bringing together over 300 scientists, educators, artists, student youth, representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora, and public figures from Ukraine and 10 countries around the world.
For two days, participants discussed the role of Ukrainian embroidery as a unique phenomenon of national culture, a spiritual code of Ukrainianness, a symbol of historical memory, national dignity, and the invincibility of the Ukrainian people in the face of modern challenges, and actively worked in creative workshops and ethno-spaces at educational institutions.
The VII International Scientific and Practical Conference “My Embroidered Ukraine: Educational and Ethnocultural Potential of Ukrainian Vyshyvanka” was held within the framework of the forum. During the plenary and sectional meetings, participants presented scientific reports on preserving ethnocultural traditions through education and upbringing, the role of vyshyvanka in Ukrainian art, the formation of national-patriotic values among youth, and the significance of vyshyvanka as a symbol of the unity of Ukrainians worldwide.
Particular attention was attracted by the International Dialogue Platform “Embroidery as a Code of Ukrainian Identity in the Modern Socio-Cultural Space of Ukraine and the World”, which became a space for intercultural communication and presentation of creative educational and artistic projects of participants from Ukraine, Spain, the USA, Canada, Italy, Germany, the UAE, Australia, Hungary, Mauritius and Romania.
In the resolution address adopted during the forum, the participants emphasised that Ukrainian embroidery today is not only an element of traditional culture but also a powerful symbol of national identity, cultural diplomacy, spiritual unity, and civic resilience of the Ukrainian people in times of war.
The forum once again demonstrated the important role of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University as a centre for the development of Ukrainian culture, national-patriotic education, international academic cooperation, and the preservation of Ukraine’s spiritual heritage.
On behalf of the organizers of the forum – the Creative Educational and Scientific Laboratory “Mountain School of the Ukrainian Carpathians”, head – Professor Inna Chervinska, Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy Professor Oksana Kondur and the staff of the Department of Primary Education and Educational Innovations, head – Professor Ruslana Romanyshyn, we express our sincere gratitude to the honored guests, speakers of the plenary session, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, higher education institutions, international institutions, Ukrainian communities and diaspora schools from different countries of the world for their meaningful speeches, scientific discussions, creative projects and cultural initiatives.
We thank the founder of the World Embroidery Day, Lesya Voronyuk, for her video address to the forum participants and her many years of cultural and educational activities and inspiration that unite Ukrainians all over the world. We want to express our special gratitude to the defenders of Ukraine for their courage, indomitability and the opportunity to hold scientific and cultural events in a free Ukrainian state. The symbolic action “Embroidered Ribbons of Memory” and the addresses of the Ukrainian military became particularly touching moments of the forum and a reminder of the high price of freedom and national unity.
