International Diplomacy at VSCNU: Ambassador of Slovenia Mateja Prevolšek Pays an Official Visit

Today, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to Ukraine, Mateja Prevolšek, paid an official visit to Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University. The visit of the high-ranking diplomatic representative was an important event for the university community and another step in the institution’s international cooperation.

During her stay at the university, Ms Posol met with the leadership of the VSCNU, led by the rector, Valentyna Yakubiv. During the conversation, the parties discussed the university’s participation in international educational and scientific programs, as well as opportunities for students and teachers in the context of Ukraine’s European integration.

A separate part of the visit was Mateja Prevolšek’s meeting with students, which took place in the format of an open dialogue. The Ambassador delivered a thematic lecture “Days of Europe in Ukraine”, during which she spoke about the activities of the European Union, its values, principles of functioning, and modern political and socio-economic processes.

Particular attention was paid to relations between the EU and Ukraine, as well as the role of European countries in supporting Ukraine in the face of a full-scale war.

The Ambassador stressed the importance of unity among democratic states and emphasised that the Republic of Slovenia consistently supports Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, both at the political level and through humanitarian and institutional assistance. She also noted that Ukraine’s future is inextricably linked to the European community.

Students actively participated in the discussion, asking questions about the specifics of the diplomatic service, international relations, educational programs in the European Union countries, and career opportunities for young people. The lively discussion demonstrated the student audience’s strong interest in global processes and Ukraine’s role in the modern world.

After the lecture, an interactive quiz on European topics was held for students. Participants had the opportunity to test their knowledge, and the most active ones received memorable gifts.

The university’s rector, Valentyna Yakubiv, thanked the Ambassador for the meaningful meeting, openness to dialogue, and support for Ukrainian youth. She noted the importance of such visits for shaping students’ European worldviews, broadening their educational horizons, and strengthening the university’s international ties.

Mateja Prevolšek’s visit to the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University is an important event that contributes to the development of interstate dialogue, strengthening partnership relations, and the integration of the university into the European educational and scientific space.
