On December 9, the rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Valentyna Yakubiv, met with the director of the Centre for Leadership of Defenders of Ukraine of the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy,” Yana Chapaylo and the head of the strategic development and partnership department, Maria Savrun, regarding the implementation of the project of the Renaissance Fund for Veterans – “Transformational experience of education for the return of veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war.”
The project aims to create a model university ecosystem that will facilitate veteran reintegration through education, community development, and partnerships. The Ukrainian Defenders Leadership Centre will serve as a mentor for three universities, including Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.
Together with partners, a short-term educational program will be developed to adapt veterans’ management skills to the civilian environment, as well as to introduce the concept of a university ecosystem that supports veterans’ reintegration.
The meeting discussed key aspects of the importance of education for veterans and the possibilities of social adaptation after returning from the front. The event was also attended by Halyna Voloshchuk, Director of the Centre for Professional Career and Lifelong Education, and Antonina Tomashevska, Head of the Department of Management and Business Administration.
Such initiatives are crucial for ensuring the successful transition of veterans back into civilian life and the practical application of their military experience in new professional endeavours.
