15 червня 2026 року студенти першого року магістерської програми кафедри англійської мови Карпатського національного університету імені Василя Стефаника (КНУВС) склали підсумковий екзамен із синхронного перекладу в мовній комбінації англійська–українська.
Під час екзамену студенти продемонстрували вміння працювати в умовах, максимально наближених до професійної діяльності конференц-перекладача, що передбачає не лише високий рівень володіння мовами, а й розвинені аналітичні навички, належну підготовку до тематики виступів та здатність забезпечувати точну й змістовно повну передачу повідомлення в режимі реального часу.
Оцінювання здійснювалося відповідно до критеріїв, які широко застосовуються в європейських інституціях, зокрема щодо точності та повноти передачі змісту, мовної якості перекладу, техніки подачі, володіння термінологією та загальної комунікативної ефективності. Екзамен став можливістю оцінити, наскільки знання та навички, здобуті студентами під час навчання, відповідають сучасним професійним вимогам у сфері конференц-перекладу.
До складу екзаменаційної комісії увійшли викладачі університету та зовнішня екзаменаторка Олександра Літвіняк з Львівського національного університету імені Івана Франка, яка є професійною конференц-перекладачкою, акредитованою інституціями ЄС. Участь акредитованого перекладача інституцій ЄС в екзаменаційному процесі стала важливою подією для програми підготовки конференц-перекладачів університету. Вперше результати студентів оцінювалися за безпосередньої участі практикуючого перекладача, акредитованого європейськими інституціями, що забезпечило додатковий рівень зовнішньої експертизи та професійного контролю якості.
Після завершення екзамену студенти отримали детальний зворотний зв’язок щодо своїх виступів та рекомендації для подальшого професійного розвитку. Надані коментарі відзначили як сильні сторони продемонстрованих перекладацьких рішень, так і аспекти, які потребують подальшого вдосконалення, відповідно до стандартів професійної діяльності конференц-перекладача.
Екзамен також підкреслив важливість гармонізації підготовки перекладачів в Україні з європейськими стандартами. У контексті євроінтеграційних процесів та поступу України на шляху до членства в Європейському Союзі підготовка висококваліфікованих конференц-перекладачів, здатних працювати в багатомовному інституційному середовищі, набуває особливого значення. Освітні програми, що впроваджують європейські підходи до оцінювання та залучають фахівців з інституцій ЄС, сприяють формуванню кадрового потенціалу, необхідного для майбутньої участі України в роботі європейських інституцій та міжнародних організацій.
On June 15, 2026, first-year Master’s students of the Department of English at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University (VSCNU) completed their final examination in simultaneous interpreting in the language combination English–Ukrainian.
The examination assessed students’ ability to perform under conditions that closely reflect professional conference interpreting practice, requiring them to demonstrate linguistic proficiency, analytical skills, subject-matter preparation, and the ability to deliver accurate and coherent interpretation in real time.
Students’ performance was evaluated against criteria widely applied in European institutions, including accuracy and completeness of message transfer, linguistic quality, delivery, terminology management, and overall communicative effectiveness. The examination provided an opportunity to assess the extent to which the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme correspond to contemporary professional expectations in the field of conference interpreting.
The examination board consisted of faculty members of the university and an external examiner, Oleksandra Litvinyak from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, who is an accredited conference interpreter at EU institutions. The involvement of an accredited EU interpreter in the examination process represents a significant milestone for the university’s interpreter-training programme. For the first time, students’ performance was assessed with the direct participation of an interpreter officially accredited by the European institutions, bringing valuable professional expertise and an additional level of external quality assurance to the examination process.
Following the examination, students received detailed feedback on their performance, including recommendations for further professional development. The feedback highlighted both the strengths demonstrated by the candidates and areas requiring continued improvement, reflecting the standards of professional practice expected in the interpreting profession.
The examination also underscored the importance of aligning interpreter training in Ukraine with European standards. As Ukraine continues its path towards European integration, the preparation of highly qualified conference interpreters capable of working in multilingual institutional environments acquires particular significance. Interpreter training programmes that incorporate European assessment criteria and engage practitioners accredited by EU institutions contribute to the development of professional capacity that will be increasingly important in the context of Ukraine’s future participation in European decision-making and international cooperation.
VSCNU remains committed to further strengthening its conference interpreter training programme through cooperation with European partners, continuous curriculum development, and the integration of best practices from leading interpreter-training institutions and international organisations.
This examination was conducted as part of the project “Advancing Capacity for Conference Interpreters’ Training at CNU – 2025–2026”, implemented by VSCNU and funded by the European Parliament. Through supporting the development of interpreter training, the project contributes to strengthening institutional capacity and aligning conference interpreter education with European standards and professional practices.
