Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University received state support for the development of the Centre for Collective Use of Scientific Equipment “Digital Humanities and Immersive Technologies”.
The university has provided financial support of UAH 1,214.0 thousand for the development of the Centre’s material and technical base and strengthening its research capabilities. The Centre for Collective Use of Scientific Equipment “Digital Humanities and Immersive Technologies” operates within the certified scientific direction of category B, “Humanities and Arts,” and is being created as a modern interdisciplinary research infrastructure for digital documentation, research, preservation, and popularisation of cultural heritage.
The Centre’s activities will cover a wide range of areas, including:
– digital humanities;
– digital archives and collections;
– 3D scanning and photogrammetry;
– VR/AR and immersive technologies;
– analysis of texts and language resources;
– digital preservation of historical and cultural heritage.
The creation and development of the Centre will contribute to the formation of a modern scientific environment for conducting interdisciplinary research, implementing innovative digital technologies in the humanities, and developing cooperation between the university, museums, archives, cultural institutions, territorial communities, and international partners.
This initiative is particularly important given the need to preserve and popularise Ukrainian cultural heritage.
The use of modern digital tools will enable the creation of digital copies of monuments, the formation of electronic collections, and the accessibility of cultural resources for scientists, educators, and the general public, both in Ukraine and abroad.
The development of the Centre for Digital Humanities and Immersive Technologies is an important step toward strengthening the research infrastructure of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University and expanding opportunities for conducting modern research at the intersection of the humanities and digital technologies.
Digital humanities is one of the most promising areas of scientific development today, combining the preservation of the past with the technologies of the future. The new Centre will serve as a platform for establishing such a connection and contributing to the integration of Ukrainian cultural heritage into the global digital space.
