VSCNU Academic Council Outlines Strategy for Enhancing Scientific Potential

A meeting of the Academic Council of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University was held, chaired by Igor Tsependa.

The main topic of consideration was the issue of “Development of the scientific potential of the university: current state and prospects for intensification of research activities.”

During the discussion, attention was focused on science as one of the university’s key strategic priorities.

The topic was the need for systematic support for scientific schools and young scientists, greater active involvement in international grant programs, the development of interdisciplinary research, the modernisation of scientific infrastructure, and the expansion of international cooperation.

A separate focus of the discussion was aimed at strengthening the university’s position in the European research space.

The importance of developing unique scientific areas related to the Carpathian region, digital humanities, and natural and environmental research was emphasised.

The role of the university’s international scientific centres — the International Scientific Centre “Observatory” and the International Centre for Meetings of Student Youth of Ukraine and Poland in Mykulychyn — as platforms for expanding international scientific interaction was also noted.

Following the meeting, the Academic Council confirmed the strategic course to strengthen further the university’s role as a modern research centre integrated into the international academic landscape.

Before the meeting, the rector of the university, Valentyna Yakubiv, and the chairman of the Academic Council, Ihor Tsependa, traditionally recognised the university employees for their initiative and perseverance, high professionalism, conscientious performance of official duties, and significant personal contribution to the development of the education and science sectors of Ukraine.

In particular, the Gratitude of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine was announced to Serhiy Adamovych, Head of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of the Educational and Scientific Law Institute.

The certificate of the Department of Education and Science of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration was awarded to the Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Maria Baylyak, for many years of conscientious work, a high level of professional skill, and a creative approach to the implementation of professional tasks.

The Head of the Department of Management in Information Technologies of the Faculty of Management, Mykhailo Matsola, was awarded a certificate of honour for his many years of conscientious work, high professionalism, and significant personal contribution to the organisation and successful conduct of the 2025 admission campaign.

The gratitude of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was presented to Natalia Goy, Associate Professor of the Department of Public Management and Administration.

Yuriy Stefanchuk and Oleg Gladkyi received their Doctor of Philosophy degrees.
