After the ceremonial part, the members of the Academic Council proceeded to consider the agenda items.
One of the key issues on the agenda was the results of the 2026 admission campaign, the main admission trends, the competitiveness of educational programs, and factors shaping the contingent of education seekers. The report was delivered by the rector of the university, Valentyna Yakubiv.
According to the results of the admission campaign, Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University demonstrated positive dynamics in a number of key indicators and strengthened its position among higher education institutions in Ukraine.
In particular, the total number of applications submitted for admission to the university and its structural divisions increased by 38.7% compared to 2025. The number of applications for bachelor’s degrees at all stages of the admission campaign increased by 37.9%, and admission to the bachelor’s educational level increased by 14.4%.
The College of the Carpathian University also demonstrated tangible results. The number of applications submitted for the educational and professional degree of a professional junior bachelor increased by 72.2%, and the number of enrolled applicants increased by 20.9%. In terms of the number of enrolled applicants on the budget, the college took third place among professional pre-higher education institutions in Ukraine. In total, 350 budget places were provided for it.
The dynamics of the university’s positions in the all-Ukrainian rankings based on the results of the admission campaign is also positive. If in 2023–2025 Carpathian University ranked eighth among the most popular higher education institutions in Ukraine by the number of applications from applicants based on complete secondary education, then in 2026 it rose to sixth place.
In terms of the number of students enrolled for bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the main stage of the admission campaign, the university ranked seventh among higher education institutions in Ukraine. The total number of students enrolled at these levels was 5,699. At all stages of the admission campaign, the university enrolled 5,879 students for bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate studies.
The enrollment rates for the contract form of study are also high. In terms of the number of those enrolled for a bachelor’s degree contract at the main stage of the admission campaign, Carpathian University ranked fourth among higher education institutions in Ukraine. 3,301 applicants were enrolled for this form of study.
Separately, the rector noted the results of applicants with the highest scores on the national multi-subject test: in 2026, 59 applicants who received 200 points were admitted to the university.
The above indicators demonstrate the growing interest of applicants in the educational opportunities of Carpathian University and the strengthening of its positions in the national educational space. At the same time, the analysis of the results of the admission campaign allows us to identify further areas of work on increasing the attractiveness of educational programs, improving career guidance activities, and developing the university’s competitive advantages.
Another important issue considered during the Academic Council meeting was the draft of the new Development Strategy of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University. Valentyna Yakubiv presented the main provisions of the document for discussion, outlining strategic priorities, and further approval.
Updating the Development Strategy is an important stage in determining the long-term guidelines for the university’s activities, aimed at strengthening its educational and scientific potential, developing international cooperation, and strengthening competitiveness in the face of modern challenges.
