The university held its first adaptation session for new employees

As part of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine’s pilot project implementation, an Adaptation Session for new employees was held for the first time at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.

The event was attended by 56 newly appointed university employees, for whom the adaptation session served as a crucial stage in integrating into the institution’s educational and scientific environment, as well as familiarising them with its values, structure, and corporate culture.

Rector Valentyna Yakubiv addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, emphasising the importance of teamwork, mutual responsibility, and the formation of modern corporate ethics as the basis for the effective development of the university in conditions of institutional autonomy.

“The development of a university begins with people. It is through shared values, team interaction, and a culture of trust that a strong academic community is formed, capable of responding to the challenges of the time,” noted Valentyna Yakubiv.

During the adaptation session, participants were introduced to the university’s mission and values , its symbols, and mascot — the Carpathian Lynx, which embodies attentiveness, inner strength, responsibility, and the ability to act in harmony with the university environment. Special attention was paid to issues of internal communications, interaction between departments, and the role of each employee in joint activities.

New employees were presented with the Employee Handbook as a practical tool for orientation to the university’s organisational processes, as well as an adaptation map that helps structure the period of entering the position and identify key requests and professional goals at the initial stage of work. As part of the event, each participant received a symbolic gift – a gingerbread man with the university logo and a motivational wish as a sign of support and openness of the university community.

The organisation and conduct of the event, as well as the preparation of information and methodological materials, were provided by the team of the Human Resources Department, which implements a systematic approach to the adaptation of new employees within the framework of developing the institutional autonomy of our university. While working on the materials of the adaptation session, the team was guided by its professional and unchanging principle: “People are the highest value of the University.”

Conducting adaptation sessions for new employees is a crucial step in establishing an open, professional, and value-driven university community at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.
