On December 12, Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian University hosted a training session titled “Strategising in Uncertainty,” organised as part of the program “University of the Future: Secrets of Successful Management in Education.” Eduard Lapkovsky conducted the training.
Maria Marcinkiv, Iryna Solonets, Yuriy Mykytyn, Tetyana Hulyak, Oksana Chuyko, and Nelya Dolynko prepared the module. The presented module is part of a training cycle developed based on the Academic Managers Professional Development Program, a joint initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the World Bank, and the British Council.
The focus is on strategising as a management process in conditions of constant change and uncertainty. Participants worked on key issues of the university’s strategic development, including understanding the role of mission, vision, and values; analysing internal and external contexts; determining strategic priorities and competitive advantages; and forming possible future scenarios and approaches to evaluating results.
Special attention was paid to strategic thinking not as a one-time exercise, but as a daily management habit – the ability to analyse the situation, make informed decisions, and manage risks without losing a holistic vision of the university’s development.
Such trainings are an essential component of the university’s systematic work aimed at developing management culture and strengthening institutional capacity in the face of modern challenges.
