The Chairman of the Academic Council of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Ihor Tsependa, and the Director General of the VSCNU Science Park, Professor Mykola Stovban, made a working trip to Krakow, during which essential meetings were held with leading scientific institutions in Poland.
During the visit, the delegation held a productive conversation with Professor Krzysztof Jużwiak, the Director of the National Science Centre of Poland (Narodowe Centrum Nauki).
The possibilities for CNU researchers to participate in NCN grant programs and potential cooperation mechanisms that could expand the university’s international scientific presence were discussed.
Narodowe Centrum Nauki is a key Polish institution in supporting basic research, and participation in its programs creates the prerequisites for involving Ukrainian scientists in European-scale projects and interdisciplinary research.
An essential part of the trip was a visit to the Jagiellonian University — the Alma Mater of Vasyl Stefanyk. Igor Tsependa met with the Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Wojciech Macyk, Professor Zbigniew Sojka, and Tetyana Tatarchuk, Head of the Commission on Science and International Cooperation of the Academic Council of the KNUVS.
The Rectorate of the Jagiellonian University confirmed the continuation of the 30-day internship program for CNU teachers within the framework of academic exchanges. Additionally, the parties outlined new areas of cooperation in the natural sciences and humanities, which will contribute to the expansion of scientific mobility and the development of joint research initiatives. As part of the trip, a meeting was also held with the leadership of the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy, the largest technological university in Poland.
During a conversation with the rector, Professor Jerzy Lis, vice-rector Rafal Wisniewski, and Honorary Professor of the CNU, Dariusz Szała, the continuation of the international UNIVERSUCH program, in which CNU students participate, was confirmed.
The possibility of expanding it to include teachers was discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on future projects at the International Scientific Centre “Observatory”, where the Academy of Mining and Metallurgy, along with the University of Warsaw, is a key partner of the CNU.
The working trip to Krakow was a crucial step in strengthening international academic ties, creating new opportunities for Ukrainian researchers, and developing strategic scientific projects at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.
