Diana Sabadash, Associate Professor of the Department of English Philology at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, participated in the Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Network Meeting 2025, which took place at the European University Viadrina (Frankfurt (Oder), Germany) from November 17 to 21, 2025. The visit was held within the framework of the German-Ukrainian University Network (DUHN) with the support of DAAD.
During the week, Diana Sabadash participated in sessions aimed at strengthening cross-border academic collaboration, developing joint learning initiatives, and mastering innovative digital educational approaches. The program included orientation events, expert-led workshops, blended learning demonstrations, and collaborative work on planning future projects.
During the professional workshops and hybrid discussions, Diana Sabadash deepened her knowledge of COIL concepts, hybrid teaching strategies, and the creation of collaborative digital learning environments. She also made a significant contribution to the program by sharing her own experience of implementing the COIL project and presenting the scientific article “Integrating Intercultural Communicative Competence into Tertiary Education for Sustainable Development: a COIL Project-Based Perspective” ( https://journals.pnu.edu.ua/index.php/jpnu/article/view/9665/9486 ), co-authored on the basis of this project. The publication became a practical example of successful international cooperation for the participants.
An “Open Mic for Teachers” session provided an opportunity to present their own pedagogical ideas and receive feedback from colleagues, while additional workshops focused on student-centered learning, innovative didactic approaches, and LEGO® Serious Play® methodology. These sessions further strengthened the methodological and digital competencies of the participants.
The meeting concluded with reflective discussions, during which plans were outlined for joint development of training programs and further sustainable cooperation within the DUHN network.
The event confirmed the strength of long-term academic partnerships between Viadrina and Ukrainian universities, laying the foundation for further cooperation and joint development of digital educational formats.
