On November 4, the University of East Anglia, in collaboration with Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, launched Ukraine Week in Norwich, UK. Since 2022, Carpathian National University has been actively collaborating with the University of East Anglia within the UK–Ukraine Twinning Scheme, exchanging experiences, resources, and ideas to develop academic ties and support Ukrainian science and culture.
In 2025, with the support of the Ukrainian community of Norfolk and the Cormack Consultancy Group, Ukrainian Culture Week was organised, dedicated to the richness of Ukrainian traditions, history, and modern achievements.
The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks from university leaders and the Deputy Lord Mayor of Norwich. A moving video message from Oksana Rubaniak, a student, poet, and advocate for Ukraine, brought the evening to a poignant close. Participants paid tribute to the university’s students and alums who died defending Ukraine.
The meeting was attended by Valentyna Yakubiv, the first vice-rector of the university, Iryna Hryhoruk, head of the research department, as well as teachers and students of the university. Scientists from Carpathian University presented reports dedicated to Ukraine’s scientific heritage, the history of resistance, and the role of decentralisation in strengthening national unity.
The event was an excellent opportunity to strengthen partnerships between universities, exchange experiences, and promote Ukrainian culture abroad.
Sincere gratitude to the Cormack Consultancy Group, the Foundation of the President of Ukraine for Support of Education, Science, and Sports, and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine for their support of this project.
