
Participation of Associate Professors of the Department of English Philology in the International Conference at Palacký University Associate Professors of the Department of English Philology Tetyana Marchuk and Kateryna Fomin, senior lecturer of the department Ella Mintsis participated in the international conference “Maps, Routes and Borders in Literary Culture”, which was held on October 2-3, 2025 at Palacký University, Olomouc, Czech Republic.
The event brought together scholars from different countries who presented modern approaches to the study of literary traditions, cultural intersections, and the symbolism of space and path in world literature. Tetyana Marchuk and Kateryna Fomin delivered a report on the topic “Topos of the Road in the Plays by Mykola Kulish and Eugene O’Neill: comparative aspect”, in which they carried out a comparative analysis of the dramaturgy of Ukrainian and American artists.
The researchers highlighted the features of the image of the road as a key topos, reflecting the philosophical understanding of human destiny and social transformations in different cultural contexts. Ella Mintsis presented a study on the topic “A Journey of Holocaust Survival (Based on The Fifth Diamond by Irene Zisblatt)”, in which she analyzed literary ways of representing the experience of the Holocaust and understanding personal and collective memory.
The research aroused considerable interest among an international audience and contributed to the discussion of the topic of memory literature in a global context. The participation of teachers of the Department of English Philology in the conference testified to the high level of scientific research and its integration into the global academic space.
The presented reports not only deepened intercultural dialogue, but also contributed to the expansion of scientific contacts, outlined prospects for further cooperation with foreign scientists, and increased the international prestige of the university.
