Our scientists joined the study of the living history of the revival of the UGCC

Today, the rector of  Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Valentyna Yakubiv, took part in the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “Ivano-Frankivsk Metropolis of the UGCC: a Living History of Revival and Development Prospects.”

The event took place as part of a research project aimed at collecting oral testimonies from eyewitnesses to the events, which will help preserve the living memory of Ukrainians’ struggle for the right to practice their faith freely.

Scientists from the Faculty of History, Political Science, and International Relations are involved in implementing this important project.

During the conference, participants discussed the historical prerequisites for the revival of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the role of the clergy and laity in preserving religious tradition, as well as modern challenges and prospects for the development of the Ivano-Frankivsk Metropolis of the UGCC. Special attention was paid to the importance of preserving historical memory through research and the recording of eyewitness oral testimonies.

Among the organisers of the event are the Ivano-Frankivsk Archdiocesan Administration of the UGCC, the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Organisation “Prosvita”, the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, the Research Institute of Church History of the Ivano-Frankivsk Academy of John Chrysostom, and the Institute of Church History of the Ukrainian Catholic University.

Conducting such scientific events contributes to a deeper understanding of historical processes, the affirmation of spiritual values, and the preservation of national memory.
