
On February 28, a meeting of the university community, “How are you?” was held at the Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University. The event was attended by Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Eduard Lapkovsky and Associate Professor of the Department of Social Pedagogy and Social Work Nadiya Sabat.
The event was attended by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mykola Trofymenko, Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs Yulia Kirilova, representatives of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, the National Qualifications Agency, vice-rectors and heads of psychological services of universities, as well as experts in the field of mental health.
During the meeting, the results of a study on training non-medical professionals in mental health were presented.
In a practical workshop format, participants developed strategic responses to the identified gaps.
A separate side activity was a meeting between representatives of project teams from higher education institutions that implement training programs for counsellors using the “Rivny – Rivne” method and graduates of the first group. Six new educational courses for mental health professionals, developed in accordance with international standards and current professional needs, were also presented.
The VSCNU’s participation in the event demonstrates the university’s active stance in fostering a culture of mental health within its environment and in implementing modern educational approaches. “For our university, this is an important step in strengthening systemic work in the field of mental health and developing inter-university cooperation,” said Eduard Lapkovsky.
The implementation of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program “How Are You?” is supported by the Coordination Centre for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with expert support from the World Health Organisation.
