“Personalities” Project: Creative Dialogue with Igor Tsependa

In the exhibition hall of  Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, a creative meeting of students and teachers took place with the famous Ukrainian historian and diplomat, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Rector of the University in 2012–2025 and Chairman of the Academic Council of the VSCNU, Ihor Tsependa. The event was held within the framework of the “Personalities” project, initiated and organised by the Educational and Scientific Institute of Arts. The meeting was moderated by Doctor of Philology, Professor and writer Olga Derkachova.

The rector of the university, Valentyna Yakubiv, welcomed those present, emphasising the importance of Igor Tsependa’s personality and his experience:

“I am extremely pleased that it is with such a great and important personality that we are starting this year of meetings with famous people. Igor Yevgenovich is a person with powerful strategic thinking. His scale of personality and depth inspire and motivate, and the lessons he teaches — from managing a meeting to positioning an institution on the international stage — are invaluable for students and colleagues.”

She also emphasised the importance of such meetings for young people:

“They motivate students to think strategically, systematically, and on a large scale — not only for the development of a particular university or region, but from the perspective of the national idea of ​​preserving and developing education in Ukraine.”

Director of the Institute of Arts of the VSCNU, Volodymyr Fedorak, added:

“The goal of the ‘ Personalities’ project is to introduce our compatriots to creative, extraordinary personalities who approach life not only from a professorial position, but with a deep Ukrainian creative approach. Today we are meeting with our glorious compatriot, the outstanding historian and diplomat Igor Tsependa. This is an intimate and sincere meeting without boring scenarios and censorship — we work creatively.”

During the discussion, Igor Tsependa spoke about his own path in science and diplomacy, shared his experience in university management and the challenges of modern education. He emphasised the importance of educating young people and developing critical thinking skills, which help them understand complex societal processes, make informed decisions, and effectively implement their ideas.

In addition to his professional achievements, Igor Yevgenyevich shared his own hobbies and sources of inspiration, noting that he is motivated by history, culture, and communication with young people who strive to realise their potential. He emphasised that openness to new knowledge, constant self-improvement, and the ability to lead a team are key components of success and leadership.

The meeting followed an open format: students and teachers asked questions, exchanged ideas, and received practical advice on scientific and professional activities. Participants noted that the event was inspiring and provided an opportunity to see how the combination of academic work and personal hobbies forms a well-rounded personality.

The “Personalities” project continues to introduce students to outstanding representatives of science, culture, and public life, stimulating active discussion of essential topics and developing the youth’s potential.
