On December 8, the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University held elections for the Student Ombudsman, a representative who is called upon to protect the rights and interests of students and university employees, support social initiatives, and promote the formation of an open, transparent, and safe university community.
The event was moderated by Taras Paska, Chairman of the Council for Research Work of Students, Postgraduate Students and Young Scientists, and Viktoriia Savchyn, Chairman of the Student Senate. Thanks to their work, the meeting took place in a constructive, open and democratic atmosphere.
The rector of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Professor Valentyna Yakubiv, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech, noting the importance of introducing the position.
Student Ombudsman to develop university democracy, ensure respect for students’ rights, and strengthen a culture of mutual respect in the academic environment.
During a meeting with the Student Senate and the Council for Research Work of students, postgraduates and young scientists, they presented their activity development programs.
Three candidates were nominated for the position of Student Ombudsman:
• Vorobets Oleksiy Dmytrovych, Faculty of Philology
• Dyachuk Vladyslav Yuriivna, Faculty of Pedagogy
• Kishchuk Andriana Vasylivna, Faculty of Psychology
Each of the candidates presented relevant and valuable ideas on improving the processes of protecting the rights of students and university employees, strengthening communication between the community and the administration, as well as developing support mechanisms and responding to possible violations.
According to the results of a secret ballot, Oleksiy Dmitriych Vorobets was elected Student Ombudsman.
