A meeting allegedly took place at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University with Askold Lozinsky, a well-known philanthropist, head of the Lozinsky Foundation (USA), public figure and president of the Ukrainian World Congress (1998–2008).
The attendees were welcomed by the rector of the VSCNU, Valentyna Yakubiv, who emphasised the importance of such meetings for shaping the worldview of student youth, developing leadership qualities, and affirming an active civic position. She emphasised that the experience of successful world-class Ukrainians is extremely valuable to the young generation, which today is shaping Ukraine’s future.
The meeting, held under the slogan “A Meeting That Shapes the Future,” served as a platform for a deep understanding of the role of youth in the modern world.
In his speech, Askold Lozynskyi focused in detail on the key challenges facing Ukrainian society and outlined ways to overcome them. In particular, he emphasised the decisive role of the younger generation in state-building, arguing that it should be the driver of change, the generator of new ideas, and the bearer of the values of responsibility, freedom, and dignity.
The speaker emphasised the importance of quality education and continuous self-development as the basis for developing a competitive specialist in a globalised world. An important part of the speech was highlighting the experience of international activity and the role of the Ukrainian diaspora.
Askold Lozynsky spoke about the mechanisms of support for Ukraine in the international arena, emphasised the need for active communication with the world community, the formation of a positive image of the state, and the strengthening of partnerships. He also shared his experience working at the Ukrainian World Congress, emphasising the importance of uniting Ukrainians across different countries to achieve a common goal.
Leadership as a responsibility and service to society was discussed separately. The speaker emphasised that a true leader is not only someone who leads, but also someone who can listen, unite, and take responsibility for decisions. In this context, he encouraged students to be proactive, not afraid of challenges, and actively participate in community activities.
The meeting participants also discussed opportunities for professional and personal growth, including through participation in international programs, internships, community initiatives, and projects.
Askold Lozinsky emphasised the importance of openness to the world, intercultural dialogue, and adaptability.
At the end, an interesting and meaningful discussion took place with students, during which they had the opportunity to ask questions and receive thorough answers from the speaker.
The university is grateful for this meeting and for Askold Lozinsky’s support.
VSCNU has long and successfully collaborated with the Lozynski Foundation (USA). Since 2019, the Lozynski Foundation has provided the university with charitable, non-refundable financial assistance to cover tuition fees for students studying on a contract basis, orphans, half-orphans, internally displaced persons, military personnel, or in other difficult life circumstances.
The university announces a competition for this scholarship among higher education applicants, with consideration given to the student’s academic performance and social status.
The university’s selection committee selects candidates who meet the specified requirements and submits the list to the Lozynski Foundation. Based on the list of candidates proposed by the University, the Foundation independently determines the number of candidates for whom it can pay funds and the amount of the scholarship for each student.
