As part of the EDUC project, the rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, Valentyna Yakubiv, and the head of the research department, Iryna Hryhoruk, paid a working visit to the Federal University of Bahia (campus in Porto Seguro, Brazil).
During meetings with colleagues, the rector introduced our university and discussed possible areas of cooperation, in particular in the field of scientific research and joint educational initiatives of COIL.
A separate part of the visit was getting to know local communities, in particular the indigenous Patasho Indian people, who are the most numerous in this region.
University representatives learned about cultural heritage preservation practices that are combined with the development of cultural tourism as a source of economic sustainability for communities.
Of particular interest are initiatives to revive the Patxohã language and traditions after a long period of assimilation.
An important role in this process is played by our own schools and educational programs, which ensure the transfer of knowledge to the next generations and maintain cultural identity.
The visit is aimed at strengthening scientific diplomacy, developing intercontinental cooperation, and deepening intercultural and inter-sectoral dialogue between universities and communities.
