Scientific and pedagogical staff of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University participated in the first stage of the Winter School “Internationalisation of Higher Education: Tools, Cases, University Support and Best Practices” (February 12-14), dedicated to strategic approaches to the development of universities’ international activities.
The event was attended by Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Activities Liliya Turovska, Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy Oksana Kondur, Director of the Kolomyia Educational and Scientific Institute Olga Slipanyuk, Member of the Board of the VGO “Innovative University”, Associate Professor of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Trade and Applied Economics Volodymyr Stefinin, Professor of the Department of Finance Roman Shchur, and Associate Professor of the Department of Finance Ivan Plets.
The key event of the first stage was the panel discussion “Strategic Priorities in the Internationalisation of Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine”, in which the Chairman of the University’s Academic Council, Doctor of Political Sciences, Professor Ihor Tsependa, took part. In his speech, he presented one of the university’s strategic international projects – the International Scientific Centre “Observatory”, emphasising the importance of a long-term strategic vision, institutional sustainability, and the university’s integration into the European research space through flagship initiatives.
The Winter School examined the tools of institutional internationalisation, mechanisms for supporting international projects, academic mobility practices, the formation of partnership networks, and the implementation of European standards in universities’ activities. Particular attention was paid to management models, successful integration cases in the international educational space, and the development of internal university infrastructure to support international cooperation.
The university team, within the framework of the 2nd-stage tasks of the Winter School, proposed the idea of a micro-project, “International Project Capacity Development Program,” for scientific and pedagogical staff, heads of structural units, and young scientists. The implementation of this initiative involves holding a series of practical workshops aimed at improving competencies in the field of preparing grant applications, forming international consortia, project management and developing academic mobility, which will allow systematically strengthening the university’s project activity and increasing its participation in the Erasmus+, Horizon Europe and other international support instruments.
Participation in the Winter School will further strengthen the international dimension of the university’s activities, develop strategic partnerships, and implement modern approaches to internationalisation management.
We want to express our gratitude to the VGO “Innovative University” for organising the event and to Taras Finikov, a member of the Supervisory Board of the VSKNU, for the high professional level of the program and for creating a professional environment for strategic dialogue.
