A Journey Complete: Master’s Graduation Ceremony at VSCNU

For the second day in a row,  Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University is hosting a solemn Academy to award master’s degrees. On this day, graduates of the faculties of physics and engineering, natural sciences, philology, pedagogical sciences, mathematics and computer science, psychology, as well as the Educational and Scientific Institute of Arts received diplomas.

The celebrations traditionally began with a moment of silence – as a sign of respect for the memory of the fallen Ukrainians, military and civilians, heroes and heroines of Ukraine.

The university’s rector, Valentyna Yakubiv, addressed the graduates and their families with a congratulatory message:

“Our dear graduates, dear parents! We sincerely welcome you to the walls of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University. Today is a special day for you, which will undoubtedly remain in your memory for the rest of your life. After all, today you are summing up the years of hard work, effort, and investment in obtaining your dream master’s degree.

We are well aware that these years of study were not easy. You received your education in one of the most challenging periods – during the war. We all lost our defenders – students, graduates, colleagues. This pain is common to each of us.

The training took place in conditions of constant challenges – lack of electricity, threats, and uncertainty. However, this did not break us. On the contrary, we, like the entire Ukrainian nation, showed resilience. We learned not just to survive in difficult circumstances, but to develop, study, work and become stronger. And, believe me, this ability is an essential competence in today’s changing world.

I am sure that our graduates will become highly qualified specialists in their fields, having received a quality education at one of the best higher education institutions in Ukraine. We are proud that Carpathian National University is consistently among the top 10 Ukrainian universities in national and international rankings. But we are even more proud that today our university is a platform for forming leaders of change — and these leaders are here, in front of us today.

Our teachers invest their knowledge, experience, and soul into training high-level specialists every day. And wherever you pursue your career — in science, education, public administration, business, economics, or the public sector — remember your teachers and the university walls in which you were formed as individuals.

Today, a new stage begins for you – adult, professional life. But at the same time, cherish the best years of your student life in your heart. For some, this is where lifelong friends were made, where someone found love and started a family, where they became parents. This is a time of great opportunity, and you have taken advantage of it.

I sincerely wish that in your future life, all your dreams and plans related to your chosen profession come true. Remember: knowledge and work have actual value only when they benefit people. And success is real when there is someone to share it with.

Know that Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University will always be open to you. Come back, share your experience, and pass on your knowledge to the next generations. We are sincerely proud of you and will be glad to see you successful people in various fields, because it is precisely such leaders of change that our dear Ukraine needs today.

Create a better future, develop, set ambitious goals and confidently move towards their implementation for the benefit of Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!

The artistic highlight of the celebrations was the performance by the “Dyvotsvit” dance ensemble of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Arts, with the choreographic composition “Colours of the Carpathians” (director: Olga Kvetsko).

The order on the completion of studies and the award of a master’s degree was announced by the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Vitaliy Shkromyda.

After the presentation of diplomas, a symbolic ritual of tossing the Confederate tassel from the right to the left side took place – students wear it on the right side until receiving their diploma, and after – on the left, as a sign of the completion of the student stage and a respectful look at their Alma Mater.

The final chord of the solemn Academy was an artistic gift from Victoria Goyan, a student of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Arts.

Congratulations to our masters on a critical life stage and on obtaining the desired diploma! We wish you professional fulfilment, self-confidence, bold decisions and continuous development. May the knowledge gained at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University serve as a reliable foundation for your future successes, for the benefit of Ukraine.
