VSCNU Continues Global Rise: Enters Top 100 in Eastern Europe (QS World Rankings 2026)

Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University has entered one of the most prestigious international rankings for the first time in history – QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026, which is a landmark event for the entire university community. This achievement testifies to the university’s high academic and scientific capacity, its gradual integration into the European Higher Education Area, and its growing international recognition.

QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026 evaluates universities according to a set of indicators reflecting their academic reputation, quality of scientific research, graduate employment, learning conditions, internationalisation, and contribution to sustainable development. The current edition of the ranking presents 958 universities in Europe, of which 58 are higher education institutions in Ukraine, providing a representative comparison of  VSCNU’s positions in the national and European academic environments.

According to the ranking results, Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University ranked 701–900 among universities in Europe and 99th among universities in Eastern Europe, thus entering the TOP-100 higher education institutions in the region. Among the university’s strongest points are the Academic Reputation and Employer Reputation indicators (position 301+), which indicate the growing trust in the university from the academic community and employers.

The results of VSCNU, according to other indicators, are also significant, in particular:
Sustainability – 24.6 points,
Employment Outcomes – 15.1 points,
Faculty–Student Ratio – 12.8 points,
Outbound Exchange Students – 10.3 points.

According to the VSCNU ranking, the university ranked first among Ukrainian higher education institutions in Citations per Paper and International Research Network, confirming the high quality of the university’s scientific publications and its active participation in international research networks and consortia.

The QS World University Rankings methodology is based on a combination of university statistics, Scopus bibliometrics, and global surveys of academics and employers. Over 1.5 million academic nominations and over 520,000 employer ratings were used to compile the rankings, underscoring the international nature of the assessment and the high level of trust in the results.

The active participation of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University in international educational and research projects, academic exchanges and professional networks contributes to strengthening its reputation among classical universities. The obtained indicators provide a basis for further improving the university’s position in European rankings by strengthening publication activity, expanding international scientific cooperation, and increasing the academic mobility of students and teachers.
