Today, October 27, on the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University joined in writing the Radio Dictation of National Unity. The traditional all-Ukrainian action united the leadership of the university and the city, teachers, students and all who strive to support the Ukrainian language, honor national traditions and feel unity with millions of compatriots.
The event began with a joint prayer, which became a symbolic beginning of the meeting and an opportunity to unite in thoughts about Ukraine, its defenders and the future of our state. After that, the participants began writing a dictation, joining a nationwide initiative that annually reminds of the importance of the Ukrainian language as an important component of national identity.
Valentyna Yakubiv, rector of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, addressed the audience. She emphasized that in the conditions of war and numerous trials that Ukraine is experiencing, traditions that help preserve our identity, support each other, and feel a sense of belonging to a single community are of particular importance.
The rector noted that the Radiodictation of National Unity is not only an opportunity to test one’s knowledge of the Ukrainian language, but also a symbol of community, spiritual resilience, and respect for the native language. Such initiatives continue to unite Ukrainians regardless of their location, reminding them of common values and the importance of preserving cultural heritage even in the most difficult times.
The Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Activities of the University, Vitaliy Shkromyda, also addressed the participants. He emphasized the importance of the Ukrainian language as the basis of national unity, a carrier of historical memory, and an important factor in the formation of civic consciousness. Participation in Radiodictation, according to him, is an expression of respect for the native language and participation in a common cause that strengthens the sense of unity of Ukrainian society.
Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Marcinkiv emphasized the importance of the Ukrainian language for preserving national identity and social cohesion.
The National Unity Radiodictation brings together people of all ages and professions around the Ukrainian word every year. For the university community, participation in this event is an opportunity not only to test literacy, but also to demonstrate commitment to the Ukrainian language, which is an integral part of our culture, history, and national identity.
Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University consistently supports initiatives aimed at popularizing the Ukrainian language, affirming national values, and strengthening the unity of society. After all, it is through respect for the native language, preservation of traditions, and joint actions that a strong foundation for our cultural and state future is formed. We thank Professor Olga Derkachova of the Carpathian University for organizing and holding such an event.
