As part of the Science Days, the Department of World Literature and Comparative Literature continues the implementation of the Open Science project — guest lectures in the “Science without Limits” format.
On April 1, a lecture for students and teachers of the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Foreign Languages was given by Catherine Watson, lecturer at the University College of Copenhagen (Denmark), Master of English Philology.
The topic of the meeting was “English as a means of achieving the UN’s global goals through the prism of language, text, and culture.” The event was moderated by the department’s professor, Ivanna Devdyuk.
During the lecture, Catherine Watson spoke about the UN’s global goals in the context of educational processes, shared methodological approaches to teaching English as a foreign language, introduced new methodologies, and provided practical examples that can be used in teaching.
The event ended with a lively discussion – the lecturer enthusiastically answered the students’ questions about communication in the educational process in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war, environmental problems, and other relevant topics.
Such events not only broaden the scientific horizons of students and teachers – they contribute to the formation of strong international scientific ties, especially important in these difficult times.
