The Educational and Scientific Centre for Professional Career and Lifelong Education of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University became an active participant in the large-scale all-Ukrainian seminar “Development of Career Centres in Educational Institutions in Wartime and Post-War Recovery.” The event was held online at the initiative of the State Institution Scientific and Methodological Centre for Higher and Professional Pre-Higher Education and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
An important recognition for the university was that the practical case of the Educational and Scientific Centre for Professional Career and Lifelong Education was presented first in the seminar’s work program.
The centre’s director, Halyna Voloshchuk, gave a thorough report, sharing her experience of transforming career guidance work in modern conditions. During her speech, she emphasised that today, education is not only a process of transferring knowledge but also a key tool for strengthening social stability and a strategic resource for restoring the state.
Special attention was paid to two main areas of the centre’s activity: the implementation of educational programs and advanced training courses; preparation for NMT and EVI; and systematic career guidance work with youth.
The seminar participants were very interested in learning about the innovative formats that are already being successfully implemented at the university.
In particular, the topic was the concept of “University and the City”, the initiative for the development of active youth “Iron Change”, as well as the use of gamification – intellectual online games based on the work of Vasyl Stefanyk and Ivan Franko.
This approach contributes to a deeper immersion of students in the university’s cultural space through digital tools they are familiar with.
A separate strategic direction of development has been identified as the implementation of a career counselling model – a transition from one-time career guidance meetings to long-term support for a young person: from assistance in choosing a profession to the formation of soft skills and taking the first steps in professional activity.
Representatives of Zhytomyr Medical Institute, Kryvyi Rih National University, Azov State Technical University, Taras Shevchenko Luhansk National University, Kherson State Agrarian and Economic University and other leading educational institutions also presented their own developments during the seminar. More than 120 specialists from all regions of Ukraine participated.
The centre’s scientists and methodologists — Natalia Barlozhetska, Iryna Vorobets, Maryana Danyliuk, and Oksana Ostapchuk — actively participated in discussions of the event’s topics and in the analysis of the presented methods.
The joint work of the seminar participants demonstrated that creating a space of opportunities, along with support and systematic guidance for students and young people, remains an unconditional priority that unites the academic community of Ukraine in pursuit of a common future.
