The process of forming the University Development Strategy for 2027-2032 has started at the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University, which will determine the key priorities of the institution’s activities, directions of institutional growth, and the role of the university in regional and national development in the coming years.
The first stage of strategizing was a working meeting in the format of a strategic session with the participation of young scientists and representatives of the Council for Research Work of Students, Postgraduate Students, and Young Scientists.
This format of work allowed to involve in the discussion an active academic community, which directly shapes the modern scientific environment of the university. The strategic session was facilitated by Taras Malyshivsky, a lecturer at the Department of Management and Business Administration, deputy head of the working group on the development of the KNUVS Development Strategy.
During the session, participants conducted a SWOT analysis, which made it possible to outline strengths and weaknesses, as well as identify opportunities and challenges for the development of scientific activities of young researchers.
A separate result of the joint work was the development of the “river of change” – a tool that allowed mapping key barriers and identifying support mechanisms at each stage of a young scientist’s career trajectory at the university.
The university rector, Valentyna Yakubiv, joined the strategic session and emphasized the importance of an open and inclusive approach to the formation of a strategic document: “For me, it is fundamentally important that the strategy be formed not as a document “for reporting”, but as a shared vision of the future of the university, which is born in dialogue, discussion and co-creation. I am convinced that the strategy is not formed from the top down, but only with the involvement of all participants in the educational process: teachers, researchers, students, administrators, partners and the community. It is young scientists today who set the pace for change — they sense global trends, work in an international environment, and form a new academic culture and vision of the development of science at the university.”
The university plans to continue the strategy process through a series of thematic strategy sessions, focus group discussions, and open consultations with representatives of various stakeholders.
This approach is designed to ensure the formation of a realistic, ambitious, and jointly developed strategy that will become a guide for the development of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University in the coming years.
