Today, Ukraine honours the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred — people who gave their lives for the freedom, dignity, and democratic future of our state.
It is symbolic that on this very day, a ceremony was held in Ivano-Frankivsk to present the Mayor’s Medal of Honour to Hero of the Heavenly Hundred Roman Huryk, a student of our university, the youngest Frankivsk resident who died during the Revolution of Dignity.
This event is of particular importance to the university community, as it reminds us of the values on which modern Ukraine and the academic environment are based. It is especially pleasing to note that among this year’s laureates are representatives of Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.
Young scientists, teachers, and researchers prove through their daily work that the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred lives on in concrete deeds and responsible civic positions.
The following were awarded with high distinction:
- Ulyanu Semak — Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Lecturer at the Department of Biology and Ecology;
- Oleg Demyanchuk — Doctor of Philosophy in Biology, Assistant Professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology;
- Lesya Danylyuk — Candidate of Law, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Labour, Environmental and Agrarian Law;
- Taras Malyshivskyi — Doctor of Philosophy in Public Management and Administration, Lecturer at the Department of Management and Business Administration;
- Vasyl Shupenyuk — Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Assistant Professor of the Department of Environmental Chemistry and Chemical Education.
These awards are not only a recognition of personal professional achievements, but also confirmation that young people, scientists, educators, and volunteers, through their daily work, strengthen Ukraine and embody the ideals for which the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred fought.
Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University sincerely thanks the organisers for preserving the memory of Roman Huryk and all defenders of Ukraine’s freedom and independence.
