
Today, December 23, the last staff conference and Academic Council meeting of 2025 took place at the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.
The university’s Student Development Center created a festive atmosphere for the Christmas period by performing traditional Ukrainian carols.
There was also a solemn ceremony of transferring the Bethlehem Peace Flame , which symbolizes unity, hope, and goodness.
After that, university employees were awarded for their professional achievements, many years of conscientious work, and significant contribution to the development of education and science .
The meeting of the staff conference was opened by Valentyna Yakubiv, rector of the Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University. In her report, she summarized the results of the university’s activities for 2025 and focused on key achievements, in particular, regarding the positioning of the university in Ukraine and the world, the development of human resources, educational and scientific activities, publication activity, financial stability, student science, and scholarship provision.
The rector paid special attention to the issues of the admission campaign and the competitiveness of the university, as well as the financing of scientific and project activities.
During the meeting, the university’s tasks were presented, which involve the implementation of five strategic goals: corporate development and personal growth, ensuring high-quality education and student development, forming a research ecosystem and international integration, increasing operational efficiency and financial sustainability, as well as developing co-creation and partnerships.
The rector will also outline key tasks to improve the quality of the organization of the educational process — in particular, the digitalization of education, improving the practical training of higher education applicants and the development of dual education, strengthening the quality assurance system and effective communication.
Among the priorities of scientific development, Valentyna Yakubiv noted: increased research funding, the introduction of AI assistants for scientists, the development of open science, increased publication activity, and support for innovation and academic entrepreneurship.
The main tasks in the field of international activities were also identified: expanding academic mobility, increasing the number of international projects, participating in international consortia, and increasing the university’s international visibility in rankings.
A separate section of the report addressed the priority of career guidance work, interaction with stakeholders, development of partnerships with communities, employers, and business, as well as the active involvement of graduates in the development of the university.
In conclusion, the rector of the KNUVD emphasized the university’s work during the war. She noted numerous initiatives in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, work with veterans and their family members, the activities of the Center for Psychological Support “With You”, projects on psychological assistance during the war, inclusive initiatives “Iconography through Touch” and “See the Treasures Together!”, as well as charitable sports and art events and cooperation with Save Ukraine NOW.
Valentyna Yakubiv thanked all university employees for their dedication, professionalism, and joint work to ensure that Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University remains a modern, sustainable, and competitive institution of higher education even in the most difficult times.

After discussion, the conference participants and the Academic Council approved the rector’s report on the results of the university’s activities in 2025.
After a short break, a meeting of the University’s Academic Council was held, headed by Chairman Igor Tsependa.
In particular, it approved the University’s Internationalization Strategy for 2026–2030 and updated approaches to implementing the University Development Strategy, taking into account the WIN–WIN and ESG principles.
The document defines the key priorities, strategic goals, and directions of the university’s activities in the context of transformations and challenges of wartime.
Also during the meeting, the deputy chairmen of the University’s Academic Council were elected. They were the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism Volodymyr Velikochy and the Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology Ivan Gasiuk. Congratulations to our colleagues!
